Aludium has achieved ASI Chain of Custody (CoC) Standard V1 (2017) Certification for its Alicante and Amorebieta (Spain) facilities. These facilities achieved ASI Performance Standard Certification in December 2019 and have recently been recertified.
13 February 2023. Aluminium Stewardship Initiative (ASI) today announced that Aludium has been successfully certified against the ASI Chain of Custody Standard V1. The certification covers the Aludium Amorebieta plant (Spain), including the casthouse, hot rolling, cold rolling, finishing and administrative facilities and, the Aludium Alicante plant (Spain), including the casthouse, cold rolling, finishing, administrative facilities and the R&D Center. The company produces aluminium products used in several downstream sectors including Building & Construction, Packaging and Transportation.
The ASI CoC Standard sets out requirements for the creation of a Chain of Custody for material that is produced and processed through the value chain into diverse downstream sectors. The implementation of ASI’s CoC Standard links verified practices at successive steps of the supply chain – certified under the ASI Performance Standard – to the products produced by ASI Certified Entities. The CoC Standard also confirms that appropriate policies and due diligence process are in place to identify and address critical issues, such as corruption, human rights abuses, materials originating from conflict-affected and high-risk areas in the supply chain and support responsible sourcing.
The independent, third-party audit of the Aludium facilities was carried out by DNV Business Assurance Services UK Ltd.
Fiona Solomon, Chief Executive Officer at ASI said, “We warmly congratulate Aludium on achieving ASI CoC Certification for its Alicante and Amorebieta facilities. By increasing its capacity to recycle aluminium scrap over the past years, Aludium is set to play an increasingly important role in the circular economy. The potential to create closed loops with its customers offers an additional benefit of maintaining the unique properties of the recycled aluminium, allowing it to be put into the same uses, not downcycled. Now, ASI Chain of Custody Certification enables Aludium’s customers to source ASI Certified products.”
Lionel Chapis, CEO of Aludium said. “The ASI CoC certification is a relevant milestone in our Sustainability Roadmap underling our commitment to substantially reduce our environmental footprint. This is a solid basis to continue our growth in selected markets maintaining the competitive advantage of first movers. We remain focused to develop tailor made low carbon solutions for our customers and to contribute on the journey to a net-zero industry.”
