Alicante, April 7, 2022. Today, April 7, World Health Day has been celebrated for 74 years, a date that commemorates the founding of the World Health Organization (WHO). This year, the motto chosen by the WHO to commemorate this event is: “Our planet, our health” and aims to draw the world’s attention to “the urgent measures that are needed to maintain the health of human beings and the planet and encourage a change so that societies worry about well-being”. The WHO estimates that “more than 13 million deaths occur each year due to avoidable environmental causes, without going any further, to the climate crisis, so the climate crisis is also a health crisis.”
“At Aludium, ensuring the health and safety of our team is our top priority and goes beyond the work environment. For this reason, in the company every day of the year we care about improving health and well-being, as well as promoting healthy lifestyles among our employees,” says Manuel Rodríguez, doctor at the Aludium plant in Alicante. “These actions are carried out throughout the year within our healthy company program called Healthy for ever”, adds the person in charge.
Objectives of the ‘Healthy for ever’ initiative
The objectives of Aludium’s healthy company project ‘Healthy for ever’ are to make the company’s workers healthier, motivated, satisfied and happier, complying with all aspects of the WHO definition of health:

With this, “we manage to prevent the appearance of occupational diseases, work accidents and common illnesses and, therefore, reduce absenteeism and staff turnover,” reveals Rodríguez. “The benefits of being a healthy company are numerous, among which we can highlight the improvement of the work environment, the retention and attraction of talent and the increase in pride in belonging to the company. Blood donation in Alicante
One of the actions that has been carried out for several years, within the healthy company action plan ‘Healthy for ever’, is carrying out two blood donation campaigns in both Amorebieta and Alicante. Last Tuesday, a blood donation action took place at the Alicante plant that was coordinated with the Transfusion Center of the Valencian Community. It will take place at the Amorebieta plant in the coming months. Only in 2020 could this action not be carried out due to the pandemic. On this occasion, 18 blood donors attended.
