Aludium joins the Adecco campaign ‘The crisis of the 40s’ on the International Day of Persons with Disabilities

Last Saturday, 3 December was the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, which in 2022 takes on a special meaning, since this year commemorates the 40th anniversary of the approval of what was then called the Law on the Social Integration of the Disabled (LISMI), and today is called the General Law on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and their Social Inclusion. This legal regulation recognised, for the first time, the employment rights of people with disabilities, and required that companies with more than 50 workers include a percentage of professionals with disabilities of not less than 2% within their workforce.

    ‘The crisis of the 40s’: is an awareness campaign that invites action

    With the support of more than 230 committed companies, the Adecco Foundation has developed the awareness campaign ‘The crisis of the 40s’, featuring Pablo Pineda, the first European graduate with Down syndrome, an Adecco Foundation ambassador and Lola Robles, a visually impaired actress. This campaign draws a parallel between the law on disability and the well-known crisis that many people go through when they turn 40.

    “When we reach the age of 40, we take stock of what we have experienced, we question ourselves on a personal level and we set new goals and resolutions for the future. We want to carry out this same exercise, but applied to the law on disability, which is also four decades old, and has reached its maturity. It is time to celebrate how much we have achieved, but also to question ourselves and take the regulations to a higher level. I believe that at this point it is essential that companies understand that hiring people with disabilities is not philanthropy, but a necessary commitment to talent and competitiveness in a diverse environment towards which we provide many values and skills such as effort, sacrifice or motivation.”highlights Pablo Pineda.
