May 27, 2022. Improving the well-being and health of Aludium workers, fostering the union of employees outside the company and promoting healthy lifestyle habits through sports and leisure activities that all members of the workforce can do, as well as their families. These are some of the objectives that this sports activity that took place last Saturday, May 21, in Amorebieta, province of Bizkaia, sought to achieve.
Nordic walking is a sport that consists of a cyclical sequence of movements with poles and is a very complete aerobic exercise that works on strength, flexibility, coordination and balance. The activity lasted three hours and a Nordic walking initiation course was carried out with a tutor who accompanied the participants in the sports session. The meeting point was in Ekolurra where the group, made up of ten participants from the EHS, Human Resources and Maintenance departments of the Amorebieta plant, walked towards Euba, passing very close to the Aludium factory in Amorebieta through green areas. Among the attendees there were also family members of the employees who enjoyed the action.
“The reception has been very positive, despite the number of participants, since the feedback from the workers has been very fruitful,” declare participants from the Human Resources department of the Amorebieta plant. “We will participate again in the next one, or in another similar activity, since we enjoy a different moment sharing anecdotes among colleagues,” they add.
Next actions
The activity is the first time that it has been carried out and was proposed by the EHS department of the Amorebieta plant and promoted by the company’s healthy company program ‘Health forever’. In this way, the entire Aludium team participates in the design and development of a healthy company while increasing employee engagement with the organization.
In addition to this action, more sports activities will be carried out:
- Healthy Cities Challenge: from May 1 to June 30. The proposed challenge, by downloading the ‘Healthy Cities’ app, is to walk 6,000 steps every day and leave the car at home one day a week.
- The race of the estuary (Bilbao): June 5 at 11:00. 4th career of Bizkaia companies. Eight kilometer race in teams of four people.
In addition to these sports actions, the Amorebieta plant will participate on Saturday June 11 in the ‘1 m2 against garbage’ campaign of the LIBERA project, created by the environmental NGO SEO/BirdLife in partnership with Ecoembes, to rid nature of garbage and raise awareness of this problem. The objective is to raise awareness and mobilize citizens to keep natural spaces free of ‘garbage’ while moments of well-being and fun are shared among co-workers and ties are strengthened.
