24 October 2024. As part of its commitment to conserving the environment, promoting the health and safety of its workers, and generating a positive impact on the surrounding communities, Aludium is organizing the first Sustainability Week for the last quarter of 2024. The program includes a total of 11 activities, six of which will be held in the Alicante plant and five in Amorabieta.
The program was designed by the Environment, Health and Safety and Human Resources departments in both plants and is divided into four main areas: biodiversity and community, sustainability and energy savings, recycling and health, and community. All of the activities are aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This initiative is aimed at promoting a culture of sustainability in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), informing workers and increasing awareness in the areas of health, safety, sustainability and the environment, encouraging active commitment, and identifying and promoting practices that reduce consumption of resources and emissions in our plants, highlighting the importance of biodiversity, energy savings and recycling.
11 actions aligned with the SDGs
The Alicante plant will run an activity on tree planting for part of the staff and their families, with the collaboration of the Special Training and Employment Center (Anilia); a beach clean-up day in collaboration with Addeco; a campaign to gather suggestions for reducing consumption of electricity, drinking water and natural gas; guided tours of the casthouse for workers, explaining the new process after the expansion project and the improvements in terms of emissions as well as recycling, and two workshops for employees on nutrition and emotional management strategies.
At the Amorebieta plant, species identification labels were placed on trees in different areas, and a collaboration focused on custody will be carried out with the Lurgaia Foundation, financing the purchase of a plot of land in the Urdabai biosphere reserve that will be protected and reforested with native species. Two activities on recycling will also be organized with the students of the Andra Mari grammar school in Amorebieta, and two guided tours will be given for workers from other areas of the casthouse.
