11 December 2023. Aludium continues to support young talent through agreements with local education centres that have access to the company’s scholarship programme. This programme is comprised of different professional streams, and the company raises awareness among local education centres about the process of recycling, smelting, and rolling aluminium through guided visits to the plants. On this occasion, two teachers and 24 first-year Higher Vocational Training students in Electronic and Automated Systems and Industrial Automation and Robotics at Maristak Education Centre, took part in the last visit of the year. Aludium collaborates very closely with this centre, because young people are carrying out dual professional training placements at the Amorebieta plant in these training streams, given that they are essential professional positions within the industrial sector.
Social and inclusive growth in our communities
During the visit, the students not only delved into the process of transforming aluminium with the help of Gaizka Diarce, a maintenance engineer in Amorebieta, but also learned about Aludium’s corporate vision and values which are the foundation of the company’s strategy. Jordi Fernández, Director of Human Resources at Amorebieta, explained to the visitorsthe company’s extensive and diverse social policy which ranges from providing aid and social benefits to the workforce, including the number one priority of guaranteeing maximum safety and promoting the health of workers, to initiatives and actions led by Aludium for the sake of gender equality. During his talk, the manager dealt with the company’s cooperation with communities and third-sector entities aimed at building a more inclusive, egalitarian, and sustainable society in the fields in which it operates.
Once the first part of the visit was concluded, the students visited the plant with numerous professionals from different departments who explained all the processes in detail. Aurora Rodríguez, head of maintenance; Olaia Bengoa, process engineer in the Cold Rolling Department; Mikel Garay, a process engineer in the Hot Rolling Department, and a maintenance officer were responsible for informing them about how aluminium is transformed. Furthermore, they were accompanied by three students from the same school who are in the second year of Higher Vocational Training in automation and industrial robotics, and are currently working in dual professional training placements at the plant.
