Aludium joins the 2022 Women’s Week, of the Adecco Foundation, to promote the employment of women at risk of exclusion

In Spain, there are 4,231,018 women between the ages of 16 and 64 seriously exposed to poverty and social exclusion, highlighting among them those over 45 who are long-term unemployed, women with disabilities, unshared family responsibilities and/or victims of gender violence.

Alicante, March 8, 2022.- Today, March 8, International Women’s Day is celebrated, a framework in which ALUDIUM has joined the Adecco Foundation in its 2022 Women’s Week, with the aim of promoting the employment of women at risk of exclusion, who exceed 4 million in Spain.

In this way, ALUDIUM responds to 5 of the Sustainable Development Goals: end of poverty, reduction of inequalities, gender equality, decent work and economic growth and generation of alliances, by supporting an initiative that has also been signed by 97 others Business.

Reducing and eradicating any type of social inequality is one of the great challenges we face worldwide, and combating gender inequality is decisive. Along these same lines, ALUDIUM develops other actions to favor and increase the employment of women in the highly masculinized industrial sector, through collaborations with educational centers. These agreements seek to incorporate women into the labor market in positions related to the productive activity of the company’s three plants, such as engineering, production and foundry operators.

There are internal talent identification programs in the company that make it possible to have a base of qualified women and qualified men with the appropriate skills to promote to positions of responsibility within the succession and professional development programs. Catalina Fernández, director of Cindal, was promoted to her current position a year ago after working for more than 30 years in different areas of ALUDIUM.

Also, gender awareness training is carried out for the entire workforce, allowing them to learn globally the main concepts of equal opportunities. To sensitize the people involved in the recruitment processes of the human resources department, complete and specialized training is being carried out as an ‘equality agent’, paying special attention to gender bias, as well as to interview techniques.

We are aware of the social responsibility of companies, informative sessions are given in schools, institutes and vocational training centers explaining the work carried out by ALUDIUM, with special emphasis on professions that present gender segregation and valuing their professional opportunities. “From the company we believe that the full inclusion of women in the labor market must be a priority to eliminate gender inequality in society. Real equality must be a collective aspiration that will only be possible if we all contribute to it from our position and area of influence”, explains Joaquim Vaz, VP of Human Resources & EHS at Aludium.

Week of Women at Risk of Exclusion

During the next week, the Adecco Foundation, together with volunteers from collaborating companies, will give training workshops in all its delegations in Spain, aimed at women in vulnerable situations. These trainings will deal with the job search from a comprehensive perspective, so that the beneficiaries can acquire the necessary skills and knowledge to face the job search from start to finish. The training workshops will be reinforced by the messages of two leading women: Eva Porto, Human Resources influencer, and the disabled athlete Carmen Giménez. Both will use their social networks as a loudspeaker to reach the most vulnerable women and launch an inspirational message that motivates unemployed women in the job search process.

We have to pay more attention

In addition to the training actions, the Adecco Foundation, together with its collaborating companies, has produced the audiovisual awareness-raising piece We have to look more closely, through which the story of Belén is made known, a woman at risk of exclusion who bears witness to history of many other women who encounter great economic, family and social obstacles to finding a job.
